I just got a notice about the reunion. I am not going to be able to attend and I am very disappointed.

I have pulled together a short narrative on my life.

After I graduated from Central Michigan, I moved to Los Angeles then up to San Francisco, where I lived for fourteen years. I taught school and then became a psychologist. I moved to Houston in 1977; continued training; and ended up in private practice, where I have been for twenty-two years. Professionally, Houston has been good to me. I am not ready to retire, but I am definitely working less.

I was never able to have children. I am married to a university professor and we are very happy. We live in the older part of town and enjoy the cultural aspects Houston has to offer. My husband does primarily research, which involves a lot of travel. I have pared down my practice and we spend about three months a year out of the country. I’ll be in Belize, scuba diving the weekend of the reunion. I would actually rather be in Wayne, never thought I’d say that.

We have a very active life style. We have a sailboat that we cruise and race off shore in the Gulf of Mexico and have taken to Mexico. We also enjoy adventure travel to far away places like Timbuktu, went there in Jan. We have trips for the next two years planned. Life just keeps expanding. We both feel very blessed to have our health and energy to really enjoy these years.

I am so happy that we made contact and would appreciate any information that is handed out. I’ll be thinking of you and waiting to hear.

Sincere and fondest thoughts,

Alice Gates

2005 update

Gary Southwell writes, It is with quite regret that I have to say I cannot attend the class reunion. Katrina put a soda water finish on my iffy plans. My daughter Gigi, who lives in Mobile has a need for my help at her Dog River home [Gigi and Mike have four different properties]. I'll bring her materials and supervision. The girl loves daddy. Mike took care of the Sea Lab boats and research vessel, which I understand is in excess of 100 ft in length. He brought it up into the bay and found shelter for it. I wonder how he hid that thing from the wind? Having been through a couple of these before myself and knowing the intensity of these storms, one would have to be quite inventive. We are looking at doing work in relief of the Hurricane survivors. Please let everyone that comes and even those that can not attend, I truly would have enjoyed spending time with them and listening to their life experiences, and if anyone is interested they can contact me on the web or by phone. I truly would enjoy contact with them.

dear folks , my son, Robert got WebTV for me as a Christmas present and so I am trying to gain as much experience with it as I can. so far it has not frustrated me to the point that I want to drop kick it into the middle of the front yard. all our children are well and happy, the grandkids are the same. Megan the youngest will be entering her last semester at Georgia state Univ and will graduate in may 04.

Gary Southwell has retired after 34+ years of flying in the Army and as an instructor to the Army. With his wife Jeannie, he has raised 5 children all of whom have attended college. His oldest daughter is a college professor; three sons are launched on careers including fiber optics and chief technology officer; and a daughter is finishing school in Atlanta. He has 2 grandchildren.

In retirement, Gary has pursued a metal fabricating business that serves residential and light industrial customers.

If you happen to be passing through, stop by.

I believe I will be out of town May 12th. I live on a small farm in Rives
Junction, Michigan, about nine miles north of Jackson, Michigan. I raise horses
as a sorta hobby. I have worked at Ford's for 36 years. My plant is now part of

Visteon Corp. I am strongly considering retirement this year.

I'm still working at Mutual of Omaha in the Advanced Markets area.  I plan to retire in about 3 years, unless I win the lottery.  I have my CLU, ChFC, REBC and LUTCF, designations from courses I've completed over the years from The American College and all related to insurance.

I was recently elected to be the Faithful Navigator of my 4th Degree Assembly of the Knights of Columbus.  For the next two years I will be spending time in honor guards and other ceremonies where we are asked to participate.

My wife, Mary Jo, retired in June '04 after teaching 4th grade in the Omaha Public Schools for 26 years.  Our two boys, Dave and Mark, are both married.  Dave, now 36, lives in San Antonio, Texas, and has two boys, Austin 9 and Brady 6.  Mark, now 33, is here in Omaha and he and his wife have 4 children, 3 girls, Victoria 9, Casslyn 6 and Jilian 3, and a boy, Andrew 18 months.  The big event coming up soon here in Omaha is the baseball College World Series.  It is truly "big time" and Omaha will be showcased via ESPN.

Manny Lentine

St. Mary's High School knew only one head varsity football, basketball and baseball in its 21-year history -- Manual Lentine, Jr. Coach Lentine passed away in the summer of 2002 just short of his 79th birthday. (from Alumni newsletter)
