Dom Dean ddean@senets.com I
will not bore you with all the details of my life rather just those things that
I consider notable at this time. I
recently remarried to Karen (June of 1999) in Savannah Ga. Karen had lived most
of her life in Ga. And hails originally from Pennsylvania. Between us we have 7
children (I have 4 and she has 3). People always say she looks great for having
7 kids. Not only did we marry in Savannah; we also bought a house located in its
historic district. Initially this was to be a get away home for us to escape the
stress of the hectic work schedule but with the sale of our business we now
actually spend more time in Savannah than we do in Atlanta Kids
in order of their appearance into the world: Shane
Austin age 37 married with two sons ages 7 and 4 located here in Atlanta. Michael
Dean age 34 married with one son age 1 located in Atlanta. Tim
Dean 33 single living and working in Minneapolis MN. Scott
Dean 31 single with a daughter of 6 months living in Worten New Jersey Shannon
Austin 28 living and working in San Francisco. (Peace Corps graduate) Megan
(Dean) Osorio 28 married one son, living and working in Santiago, Chile in the
Peace Corps) Travis
Austin single (but in a relationship that we anticipate will be permanent)
living and working in Denver Co. Karen
and I met at the church we attend - Unity Christ Center. What initially drew us
together was that my daughter was in the Peace Corps and her daughter was
considering going into the Peace Corps. She began talking to me about what
Megs’ impressions were of her experience. I
went into the school business in 1986; a medical allied health career school.
The school, Georgia Medical Institute, in 2000 graduated 1,000 students into
medical careers. We felt real good about the work that we have been doing over
the past 15 years and what we had accomplished. However, it was time to move on
and we sold the business in April of 2000. We
have homes in Atlanta (which is a newly constructed downtown loft Condo) a block
away from Olympic Park and, as I said earlier, a 110 year old home in the
historic district in Savannah. It
seems for the last year we have been working on the houses in both locations
getting them decorated and furnished the way we would like them to finally look. We
are soon planning to spend more time traveling and enjoying the softer side of
life. I am working on Karen to learn how to sail with me and we are also
planning to take dance lessons. Life is good and we are enjoying it. We look forward to seeing all of you and catching up on the last 10 years since we have gotten together.

Carol Dowdell Oliphant coliphant@ameritech.net 2005 update. We are truly enjoying our retirement years and have been doing the traveling that we had always hoped to do. We went to Austria and Germany last fall, Sorrento, Italy this past April and are scheduled to leave for Cape Town, South Africa and a Safari in late October and early November.
We spend 2-3 months in the winter in Florida and still spend our summers at our cottage in Northern Ontario.
Our granddaughters, Allison 12-1/2 and anna 11, are both in middle school. Those two little girls are my passion. Grandchildren are so special and I know you all agree with me on that.
Looking forward to the reunion!
Bill
and I have Our son Bill is 38, still single, lives in Jackson
Hole, Wy and is the Assistant Principal at a Special Education resident school. Our daughter Lora is 37, married, lives in Saginaw and has two

Bill and I spend most of the summer months at our cottage on Lake
Superior in Northern Ontario. We both love to travel and are looking forward to it.

A week to the day after the reunion, Joe called to check in thanks to a message on his answering machine from Dom Piestrak. Joe retired from his job as a pipefitter and is busy as a consultant on energy installations. His three children are all college grads including one who is now a rocket scientist in Georgia. Remarried after his wife's death three years ago, his extended family now includes 4 more "children". Joe will be moving to a retirement home in Curtis, MI in the UP.
Bill & Diane Lubaway visited Mike at the New Camaldoli Hermitage on Highway 1 at the south end of Big Sur, CA -- look for Lucia on the map. The Hermitage is reached via a winding 2 mile road up the side of the Santa Lucia Mountains. Its peaceful setting overlooks the Pacific. Most important, Mike has found his place and enjoys his calling. I'd have to call our visit inspirational. I just got the Reunion Invitation, but I just miss being there because

2005 Update Tom Hill… Graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1964. Attended the Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia for six months after getting a commission from the NROTC unit at Notre Dame. Served aboard the destroyer, USS Jonas Ingram (DD-938) out of Mayport Florida, until he left active duty in November of 1966. During this tour of duty he traveled extensively to the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Pakistan, and he also married Karen Beckley from the northeast side of Detroit. After leaving active duty, Tom and Karen returned to the Detroit area and began a 25 year career with IBM as a Senior Marketing Representative responsible for several large national/international accounts. After 10 years with IBM and living in first Dearborn Heights and then Bloomfield Township, Tom and Karen moved to Carmel, Indiana (just north of Indianapolis). After retiring from IBM in 1991, Tom joined Dean Witter (now Morgan Stanley). He retired from Morgan Stanley this year and joined Planned Investment Co. Inc in Indianapolis as Vice President. He is on the Board of Directors and is a part owner of this full service brokerage firm with an associated trust company, Hoosier Trust. In 1969 after being out of active duty Navy for nearly three years, Tom affiliated with the Navy Reserve and eventually retired from the Navy with 37 years of service in August of 2002. Tom attributes the poor quality of his golf game to all this Naval service. Instead of spending time on the golf course he was working up new carrier battle groups in the Caribbean, running command and control / logistic support to a large NATO exercises in the North Atlantic and briefing the Secretary of Defense at a large Joint Command, where he commanded all the reserves from all of the different services. He retired at the rank of a two star Admiral. Tom and Karen have four daughters, Sandy, Kathi, Kelly and Tracy. Kelly will be the last of the daughters to be married and that will take place on October 29th of this year. The Hills have three grandchildren, Nathan (5), Abby (4 ½) and Caden (2 ½). Karen assisted the special ed program at the local high school until the grandkids came along and now spends a good portion of her time with them during the week. Tom and Karen have done some traveling especially since Tom retired from the Navy and they plan to do a lot more. Their next trip is to Hawaii in November after the wedding, to attend the retirement of another Admiral and friend. Tom and Karen are looking forward to the gathering of Blue Knights and spouses with great anticipation!!!
John Hill Yes, it’s true that I am John Hill.
However, I am a ’64 graduate of Vicksburg Michigan High School – not St.
Mary’s. Sorry that I couldn’t be more “helpful”. Good luck, and have a
ball!
Bill, am not your man (wish I was) 26
years too late. Hope you find him. Good luck. This was sent to my address by mistake.
My married name is Hill, but I do not know any John Hill. (My ex’s name is
Craig). My parents had this house since 1956. And their last name was Michales.
So I am sending you this back. |
