Thanks for registering Horizon Investment Analyst! As a bonus to registered users, Horizon Price Watch is included in this package. To install Horizon Price Watch, 1) Make sure you have exited Horizon Investment Analyst first. Then, 2) Double click HorizonPWDist.exe (the file you just downloaded). If the name ends with '.zip', *not* '.exe', first rename it to '.exe'. Then, double click it. 3) In the window that opens, navigate to the directory where Horizon Investment Analyst was installed (usually C:\Program Files\Horizon Investment Analyst) and click that folder. Then, click 'Finish'. 4) After you click 'Finish', the files in this package will be extracted into that folder. If this package includes 'User Manual.chm', it is because it is a newer version, so, if the installation asks if you want to overwrite the old one, answer 'Yes'. 5) Horizon Price Watch can then be run by clicking Start, Programs, Horizon Price Watch. 6) You can also create a desktop shortcut to the new program by right clicking 'Horizon Price Watch.exe' in Explorer, and selecting 'Send to: Desktop (create shortcut)'. On some systems, Horizon Price Watch requires that Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 be installed, so, if you receive an error message when you first run Horizon Price Watch, just install Internet Explorer 6.0, and it will usually fix the problem. If, even after installing IE 6.0, you still receive an error message when running Horizon Price Watch, please let me know. Because of the wide variety of Windows systems and setups, I am limited as to the systems that I can test this program on. So far, the install has worked smoothly on every system I've tested, but if you encounter problems, please drop me an email at baldwinwh (at) netscape (dot) net. To uninstall, just delete 'Horizon Price Watch.exe' from the Horizon Investment Analyst folder. You don't need to uninstall it thru the Add/Remove programs dialog in Control Panel. Thanks again. Will: baldwinwh (at) netscape (dot) net Change log: 1.25: 1) When importing data from disk, previously, the program would treat multiple, contiguous delimiters as one column on the grid, i.e. ",,,,". Now, it separates each into a separate column. 1.22: 1) Added the ability to drag the first column of the grid. 2) Added a fixed row on top of the grid so that you can drag the column borders to resize them. 3) The program now will refresh the date in the heading and add the time (for price quote download), each time new data is downloaded. 1.18: 1) Modified the import (load from disk) routine so that strings no longer need to be enclosed in quotes *unless* they include a comma. If a string field includes a comma and is enclosed in quotes, the program will read it in without modification; otherwise, it will split the record into individual fields at each comma. 1.17: 1) Changed the 'Save to disk' option to display a new dialog if the file already exists, and ask if you want to overwrite or append to it. Then, if you choose to append to the existing file, PW will, after appending the new data, load or reload the newly modified file into the grid (including both the old and new data). 1.16: 1) Added OLE drag/drop capability, so that you can: a) drag files from Explorer and other OLE enabled programs to open in Price Watch's grid, and... b) drag PW's data grid to Horizon Investment Analyst for importing, and to Explorer and other OLE enabled software. 2) Added a 'Preferences' dialog where you can specify a command line to easily open the current data in other software for further manipulation and printing, etc. 3) Fixed a problem where, if you open a file from disk, then re-save it, the first record wasn't being saved (because of the default 'Save' option 'Don't save header records'.) Now, the program is smart enough to know to only skip saving the header records if the data has been freshly downloaded from Yahoo. 1.14: 1) Added a small wait cycle in the load logic to wait for Windows resources to become available, if PW is started automatically at Windows start-up. 1.12: 1) Added logic to preserve the window state if the program is closed by Windows shutting down, so that it will be restored correctly the next time the program is run. 2) Added logic so that if you try to run Horizon Price Watch when it is already running, it will pass control to the already running window, and exit, rather than create a new window. 1.10: 1) Changed the file save dialog to default to 'Overwrite' instead of 'Append'.
