INTRODUCTION & BIO:

This Webpage was written as a first step in teaching myself HTML, and to provide information about myself and the 8.PzRgt.

I am MAJ (R) Thomas S. Adamski, (USAR), an Armor Branch Officer, and a veteran of more than 22 years of service in the U.S. Army, the Michigan Army National Guard (MI ARNG), and the United States Army Reserve (USAR).

I live with my Wife Shelly, and my Daughters Kaitlin & Mara, in the City of Grayling, Michigan, which is located in Michigan's Northern Lower Pennisula, in the USA.

I am a FAA licensed Private Pilot and a member of a local group of Home-Built aircraft enthusiasts called the Grayling Aviators. Our members have several aircraft building projects currently under construction or already flying.

I am the holder of Amateur Radio License N8TPN, where I am most active on the U.S. allocations of the VHF and UHF bands of the Amateur Radio spectrum. Most recently I have begun to experiment with the techniques for implementing Local and Wide Area Networks (LANs/WANs) in the Amateur portions of the 2.5Ghz and 5Ghz Bands.

With the exception of some ancient Commodore-64 computers which I have kept for sentimental reasons, and my very first IBM PC compatible (8088-class) computer, (which was a wedding present from my wife), I have built all of the more than 20 machines in my Local Area Network from scratch. While many of them are starting to show their age, ranging as they do from my oldest 8088 thru 486 to Intel P-III and AMD Athlon XP class machines, they are all still chugging along just fine. Many of the older machines have had their useful life extended by turning them to single-tasks such as Packet radio Digipeaters or other Amateur Radio uses. My fastest and most capable machines are the ones I use to play WW2OL, and are constantly being upgraded with newer and faster components, while their older and slower cast-off parts are used to keep the others on the network somewhat up to date.

Over the years I have managed to combine and expand my love of Flying and Amateur Radio into the field of Radio Control (R/C) Model Aircraft. Most of my models express my fascination with silent flight and are either Sailplanes or are Electric powered. My most recent models focus upon the new and rapidly growing field of Park and Backyard flying, and are therefore much smaller than used to be possible with the older and larger R/C technology of just a few years ago.

I am a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA-207801), the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL), the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and the Aircraft Owner's and Pilot's Association (AOPA).

CPTA & 8TH PANZER REGIMENT:

You may know me by my WW2OL name of CptA, where I hold the rank of Oberst (Colonel) in the German High Command (GHC), and where I serve as a KampfGruppe Offizier (KGO) assigned to KampfGruppe 2, of the 3rd Panzer Division (GHC).

Concurrently, I also hold the position of Regimental Executive Officer of the 8.PzRgt - "WulfEngle" (WolfAngel), a WW2OL Armor Squad consisting primarily of ex-U.S. Military personnel.

The 8.PzRgt is loosely organized along the lines of the historical WW2 German Armor Regiment of the same name, and was formed during the early Summer of 2002 by it's 5 Original Founding Members: "Airborne", "Galland", "Pyroman", "Ppeene", and myself...with the aim of creating a highly-structured and professionally organized WW2OL Squad that accurately mirrored the Communications, Tactics, and Techniques of an actual Panzer Regiment.

Originally consisting of a Regimental HQs Platoon (or in German terminology a Zug) and 2ea Panzer Abteilungen (or Battalions), the Regiment's Modified Table of Organization and Equipment or MTOE was later expanded to reflect the on-going changes to the game, and to provide the Regiment with the additional capabilities of a Scout (Reconnaisance) Platoon, an Anti-Tank Platoon, a Support (Logistics) Platoon, and an Aviation (Attack) Squadron.
