Kalamazoo Magic Society Constitution

Preamble and History
In 1999, the Kalamazoo Magic Society was founded out of interest for the arts of magic. Out of this interest, the Kalamazoo Magic society was formed so people can get together to practice, perform, and talk about magic, magic events and the related arts. It is hoped that the basic ideas and concepts will be taught and learned as a result of the Kalamazoo Magic Society meetings. These ideas are to be used for the purposes of performing magic. By performing, it is meant for either public or private performances, or small parties, or friends, but that does not include exposing the secrets within the magic.
ARTICLE I: TITLE
          The name of the organization shall be referred to as the Kalamazoo Magic Society
ARTICLE II: PURPOSE
    Section A: General Purpose
          A.I      To provide an environment where persons can come together to practice and perform magic and the related arts.
          A.II      To discuss happenings in the magic media and the like.
ARTICLE III: Membership
    Section A: Membership
          A.I      Any person with an interest in magic and the related arts can become a member regardless of ethnic background, age, gender, religion, or sex.
    Section B: Terms of agreement
          A.I      Person should abide by the code of ethics. See Code of Ethics.
ARTICLE IV: Leadership
          Shall consist of two student leaders who are interested in magic and willing to take the initiative to lead the organization.
ARTICLE V: Constitutional Amendment
    Section A: Procedure
          A.I      Any amendment to the Kalamazoo Magic Society Constitution must he proposed in writing.
          A.II      Proposed amendments are subject to a majority approval by members of the Kalamazoo Magic Society.
ARTICLE VI: Constitutional Maintenance
    Section A: Review
          A.I      Each summer the Kalamazoo Magic Society Constitution shall be reviewed and amended by the appropriate individual.
    Section B: Approval
          A.1      By the appropriate time the revised Kalamazoo Magic Society Constitution shall be presented to the Kalamazoo Magic Society for discussion and approval at the discretion of a majority vote by current members.
ARTICLE VII: Initial Ratification
          The Constitution shall be ratified by a majority of current members of the Kalamazoo Magic Society, at which time the previous constitution shall be rendered null and void.
Code Of Ethics
1. Oppose the willful exposure to the public of any principles of the Art of Magic, or the methods employed in any magic effect or illusion.
2. Display ethical behavior in the presentation of magic to the public and in our conduct as magicians, including not interfering with or jeopardizing the performance of another magician.
3. Do not claim credit for discovering an effect that is another magician's original idea.
4. Promote the humane treatment and care of livestock used in magical performances.
