Studio

This is the audio and video production studio.
Our goal is to provide first-class audio production facilities to aspiring musicians who would rather not pay the wallet-busting prices most other studios charge. We try to keep our overhead as low as possible so you don't have to cover the cost of a lot of "bells and whistles" that don't contribute to the quality of your recording.

Engineer

A semi-professional musician for over 30 years, Darryl Schmitz has performed in several area bands, most notably at Michigan's #1 tourist destination, Frankenmuth Michigan - home of the Bavarian Inn.
Also, he has done on-air DJ work for local stations, including Lansing's country music station KIX-94 (WXIK-FM, 94.1).

Equipment

Here is some of the audio/video equipment and computer processing harware and software used in our studio. We produce quality audio and video at a fraction of the cost others charge. And we believe you'll have a more enjoyable, more productive time here, too.

Our Vision

Welcome to recording studio 33 1/3 Street Sound in St. Johns, Michigan - less than 15 minutes north of Lansing. Our name is a tribute to the long-play (LP) phonograph record (remember those?) which were played at 33 1/3 RPM.
Despite the nostalgic name, we have a very well-equipped high-tech small studio where we produce full length albums, band demos, radio ads, spoken word recordings and videos, etc. on our state-of-the-art multi-track computer digital recording system.

Our primary objective is to work for you and with you, giving you the benefit of our technical expertise so you can concentrate all of your energies on the creative aspects of your performance. We are known for being not only knowledgeable about the "nuts and bolts" of sound recording, but we are proud of our reputation for courtesy toward our valued customers, putting them at ease while in the studio.

Services

Audio Recording and Production
We provide microphone(s) setup, recording, editing, mixdown, and mastering in the session package. We can also provide CorelDraw CD/DVD packaging design, if it is needed. We are a DiscMakers Studio Partner, which means we can help you work with trusted CD/DVD duplicator DiscMakers to mass produce your finished audio CD or DVD product.

Video Recording and Production
We have broadcast-quality 2-camera video production capability. We have recorded and produced several wedding and reception videos, as well as television ads - including product ads and political ads. We have the ability to compose original "jingle" music for our advertiser clients.

Live Sound Production
We have a medium venue sound system with which we have provided deejay services for wedding receptions and for events such as presentations, fundraisers and 5K races. We can provide these services at the same low hourly rate as our studio session services.

Our Team

Darryl Schmitz

Owner and audio/video engineer at 33 1/3 Street Sound since 1998. He has produced thousands of audio tracks and dozens of video projects for hundreds of customers from virtually all genres of music background.

You

The only other component of a successful recording project is you, the performer-client (and your band, if applicable).
We don't need a battalion of costly audio engineering staff to do a great job for you, nor is more than one knowledgeable engineer ever needed for most audio/video projects.
