He has painted 5 Educational Habitat Posters for Michigan's Department of Natural Resources.

His portraits have an impressionistic style.

Pastoral scenes come as second nature for him as he paints from his own farm and surrounding rural area.

Gijsbert is well known for his wildlife paintings- from 17 years as Art Director and Illustrator for the Michigan Natural Resources Magazine.
