PCO Mission CommitteeWith inner contemplation and outward joy, the Mission Committee leads all Okemos Presbyterians in awareness of our responsibilities to our brothers and sisters, advocacy of our Christian ethics, and action in the name of God who has blessed us with his calling to feed the hungry, heal the sick, cloth the naked, promote justice and bring the gospel to the whole world.
The mission budget accounts for more than half of the total annual budget of our church. These funds are used both for Presbyterian Church World Mission programs and for local, national, and international special causes allocated directly by this committee.
So far this year, we have supported several members mission trips, Closing the Digital Gap Program and helped cloth and feed the needy here in the Lansing area, . We have sent relief funds to victims of natural disasters and continue to shelter the homeless locally through out support of such organization as Habitat for Humanity and the Greater Lansing Housing Coalition. Through Advent House and Loaves and Fishes, our members provide meals each month and also contribute food to local food banks. The Intergenerational Event each Chrismas provides needed food and gifts to nine area families.
