Wet Felting - Marlene P. Gruetter, Instructor
The Traditional Art of Feltmaking: Hat Mania
 In this workshop, students will learn how to make a one-of-a-kind felt cloche hat using traditional feltmaking techniques. The process for making the hat will involve laying wool fibers out and adding inlays such as yarn, fabric or prefelts for texture. Then with the use of soap, water and friction students will transform these fibers into felt. The final step is to shape and block the hat. No experience necessary.
Class Price - $80 ($60 Instructor fee and $20 material fee, includes merino wool, yarn, fabric, olive oil soap, resist, netting, use of felting tools)
Class Time - Saturday, September 19, 2009 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Supplies - A few old towels
Class Size - limited to12.
Instructor Bio - Marlene Gruetter is a rising new face in the art of felt making. Over the past five years she has focused her interest in the fiber arts solely on traditional feltmaking. She has sought training by many felting artists renowned both nationally and internationally.
This year Marlene will have her first professional exhibit in Ohio. Her work has also been juried and selected for exhibits throughout Ohio. To develop an interest in the fiber arts in her area of southeast Ohio, she founded the Appalachian Ohio Fiber Guild in 2007.
Marlene is a very enthusiastic teacher and enjoys sharing her knowledge with others.

Punch Needle - Linda Donaldson, Instructor THIS CLASS HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Punch needle techniques will be taught showing a traditional style that can be adapted for current trends. This dimensional fiber art form allows the fiber student the ability to visualize all the possibilities of punch needle artistry. Please bring a pair of small scissors.

Rug Braiding - Ann Brown, Instructor
THE SHEPHERD’S RUG*
This all day workshop is for someone who loves working with wool and is a fiber artist with a closet full of fiber, the shepherd wishing to make something from their wool sheep, and the hand crafter looking to add warmth and a decorative flair to their home.
During the first half of the workshop the students will be shown how to braid wool roving, how to design their color scheme, learn the procedure to felt braids in a washing machine and dryer.
The afternoon session the students will learn how to start a chair pad as well as an oval rug, how to stitch the rug without stitches showing and the technique to finish/end the project. Students should be able to take home a completed chair pad.
Class Price - $45 ($30 Instructor fee and $15 Materials fee)
Class Time – Saturday September 19, 2009 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Supplies - Students should bring a pound of roving in at least two to three colors. We will have ¼ pound balls in selected colors available for sale.
