As most of my friends and family know I am spending most of January this year in Brazil. So I decided to write this web page to show all my friends and family what I did on my first weekend in Brazil.
Saturday morning we went to a National Park called "Aparados Da Serra" to see Fortaleza the falls. See the blue circle on the map.We drove for sometime before we ran out of paved road then about 40 miles of very rough rocky road. In one place we had to cross a flooded section of road.

After about 2 hours we came to the park. I had to be told we had arrived because I don't speak the language to well and road signs were not a high priority in this parks budget. Next we had lunch by the car and started to hike along a river. I still had no idea what was ahead!

Next we came to a what looked like a small waterfall it was hard to see because we were in the clouds at this point. We had to cross the river so I took of my shoes and socks to walk across right on the edge of this waterfalls. We stopped to enjoy the view we had.

With the hat on is Gregor Arand his son Andre to the right and in the red shirt is Leandro
At this point in the trip I was playing the theme music to National Geographic Explorer in my head as this was one beautiful place. After a little more hiking I found a good place to take a picture of the waterfall. From top to bottom it is about 1300 feet and I walked across the falls right on the edge lets just say I was VERY careful going back!

On the drive back we saw some Gaucho's on horse back so I stopped to take there picture. Do you think they know there picture is on the world wide web?

Also on the way back we stopped for some fresh Bananas. If you ever get the chance you should try a fresh Banana. It tastes much better than the ones we get in the store!!

Next we went to Torres beach in the town of Torres. We had some fresh coconut milk and sweet corn. Yes I said fresh sweet corn in January its summer here!

I can also say I have now got the best sunburn I have ever had in January!

Maybe if I think of more I will make another page like this!
