As most of you know, A.S.K. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that uses 100% of its proceeds directly on animals. This is a unique and rare feature of nonprofit organizations; our board of directors does not get paid, our volunteers work for free, gas, office supplies and rent are not paid for with A.S.K. funds. We make a direct impact on animals through our one-on-one approach to animal advocacy.

Programs operate 7 days a week-including holidays-24 hours a day-in any weather.

Creature Comfort: A.S.K. targets low-income neighborhoods to direct outreach. Animals that live outside on chains are encouraged inside; advice and supplies are given to make animals lives better (heavy log chains are replaced with lightweight cables, toys, treats, straw and doghouses are given away for FREE). A.S.K. also got the first chaining law in MI passed that restricts dog chaining to 3 hours a day. Every home assisted receives follow-up care and support throughout the year. Our motto with this program as well as with other outreach activities is: Instead of asking why/how people can abuse/neglect animals, ask WHAT you can do to change it. A.S.K. is a DIRECT-OUTREACH organization-we don't wait for the phone to ring with requests for help. Animals need us to ask for them and as such, we seek THEM out on a weekly basis. The public is also encouraged to call to report animals in need-we only need an address to follow-up on concerns anonymously. Education occurs at the grassroots level where the problems exist.

All Species Mobilization: All species of animals deserve protection. A.S.K. offers a one-of-a-kind service in Lower MI for wildlife. When people find wild animals that are potentially orphaned or injured, A.S.K. visits the site, assesses the situation and determines the best mode of action for the animal in question. Animals in need are captured safely and transported to credible wildlife rehabilitators to be given a second chance at life. A.S.K. volunteers have been trained through the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council to assess wildlife emergencies as well as numerous research in wildlife biology. From diving off boats to untangle waterfowl trapped in fishing line, to saving animals from roadways that have been injured-all species are helped.

All Species Sanctuary: A.S.K.'s no-kill sanctuary focuses on aggressive dogs that have been chained and trained to fight (those that would not be rehabilitated by other agencies). Additionally, domestic birds, waterfowl, rabbits, small farm animals and cats call the sanctuary home where they receive lifelong healthcare, love and attention on 100 acres of serene land. Contributors can make appointments to visit the sanctuary; no animals are adopted out due to their special needs.
