Speakers:
The program is divided into four parts:

1.

Overview and status of planning efforts in Michigan
Brad Deacon - Michigan Department of Agriculture, head of MDA's Emergency Preparedness
Nancy Frank - DVM

2.

Legal Issues
Barbara Gislason - Minnesota attorney who chairs the ABA's Animal Law Committee and also chairs the National Network of Attorneys and Representatives of Animal Welfare Orgizations which provide disaster rescue
Prof. David Favre - MSU College of Law, who is speaking on the adoption of rescue animals
Sarah Babcock - attorney and veterinarian
Tanya Irwin - law student who will talk on legislation, including the pending PETS bill in Congress

3.

"In the Trenches" includes a presentation/slide show by a veterinarian Cathy Theisen who was in the gulf coast region with the VMAT team

4.

Panel Discussion with all of the above speakers, as well as two veterinarians, Stephan Steep and Jeffrey Dizik, who are involved with MVMA's disaster planning effort.
