Animal rights? No,
the issue is different
RIVES JUNCTION -- The opposition likes to make pound seizure more about animal
research than pet safety; but research has two other sources for animals -- they
don't need ours. We've already had one family lose a beloved pet to research
because we allowed pound seizure. Opponents also like to make the issue about
"animal rights," since that pits hunters and farmers against us.
Commissioners who try to spin this for their own purposes should read the facts
on our Web site:
www.members.aol.com/justice-4them .
The National Animal Control Association is against pound seizure -- does that
make it an animal-rights organization? A study showed a 56 percent reduction in
dog bites, helping to protect our kids -- is that about animal rights?
Our nonprofit papers do not include the words "animal rights" anywhere. Those
commissioners still supporting pound seizure are choosing to ignore something
important -- the truth.
