Be a part of the 18th Annual Pet Theft Awareness Day by attending or organizing a candlelight vigil in memory of the nearly 2 million companion animals stolen every year. Many are sold to USDA licensed Class "B" animal dealers who then sell the animals to research facilities, where they endure unimaginable torture and often die. 2) Watch HBO America Undercover's "DEALING DOGS"! On Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 10PM/9C, HBO America Undercover will air "Dealing Dogs," a documentary profiling LCA's groundbreaking 15 YEAR undercover investigation on pet theft. The investigation culminated in the bust of the largest and most notorious Class "B" animal dealer, C.C. Baird, in the biggest multi-agency (federal, state and local) animal abuse case in U.S. history.
3) Support the Pet Safety and Protection Act (S. 451) Please call 1-888-VOTESMART and urge your senators to co-sponsor this bill.
With the bust of Class "B" dealer C.C. Baird and the documentary "Dealing Dogs," the passage of the Pet Safety and Protection Act has never been so close. We urge you to contact your senators and ask them to co-sponsor this important bill that will prohibit Class "B" animal dealers from supplying animals to research facilities.
