Clarification on Detroit Animal Control Situation

Hello Everyone,

We would like to clarify what is going on at Detroit Animal Care and Control in the week between Christmas and New Year's Day. The facility will NOT be euthanizing all of its existing animals.

While the facility will be closed to the public -- which includes rescue groups -- staff will be feeding, watering a caring for the animals. The
animals will not be moved in those two weeks.

The clarification came from Detroit Health Department Deputy Director Dr. Vincent Nathan, in a conversation with Joe Sowerby, who is chairperson of the Detroit Animal Care and Control Advisory Board.

The reality is that Detroit Animal Care and Control is always in desperate need of assistance. We would like to encourage all of you to make an effort
to pull animals from the facility whenever possible.

We appreciate the overwhelming response to our earlier message. To all of you who forwarded the message along to friends, please do the same with this message.

If you or anyone you know plans on making a trip down to the facility, please be polite in all exchanges with Detroit Animal Care and Control
employees. They are motivated to move animals out.

Thank you,
