Adopt a Dog Month
Knick Knack Paddy Whack...Give a Dog a Home

Big brown eyes gazing at you with complete adoration.  Tail wags and unconditional love.  More kisses than you could ever ask for.  If you’re wondering where you can find all these great qualities in one package, visit the Michigan Humane Society during October’s Adopt a Dog Month.

Our adoption package includes spaying or neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, a medical check-up, free ID tag and much more.  “Meet” many of our adoptable puppies, dogs and other companion animals online

Detroit’s Best Country 99.5 WYCD is the Michigan Humane Society’s official Adopt a Dog Month station.  Tune in to Jyl Forsyth weeknights in October from 7 p.m. until midnight to learn more about the adoptable dog of the week or visit http://www.wycd.com/.

Can’t adopt? Help the MHS find loving families for homeless dogs and puppies at our three shelters.  Print our new Adopt a Dog poster (.pdf 850kb) or (.doc 100kb) and post it at your office, school, gym or local coffee shop!

Hurricane Animal Updates
Thank you for your support!

The MHS is grateful for the outpouring of support for our Hurricane rescue teams and the interest in adopting a rescued animal.  A few of the animals from Louisiana and Houston were recently placed up for adoption at the MHS Berman Center for Animal Care in Westland.  Many others continue to need treatment for a variety of medical conditions and will become available for adoption as appropriate for each individual animal.  In order to facilitate the best possible matches, the MHS encourages adopters to consider all of the homeless animals in our care.  Click here for more information.

Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo
Hundreds of Animals Befriended

In late September, 670 adoptable dogs, cats and rabbits found new homes at the 5th annual fall “Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo,” presented by VCA Animal Hospitals, and hosted by our event partner, the Detroit Zoo.

A warm thanks and tail wags for our sponsors: VCA Animal Hospitals, Pfizer, The Cat Practice, Pet Suite Retreat, Mirror Newspapers and Observer & Eccentric Newspapers.  Event support was also provided by Caribou Coffee, Krispy Kreme and Pizza Hut.
