1 + 1 = 420,000…
Every Litter Counts
Spring has finally sprung. With the warmer weather, however, comes
a large increase in litters of stray and unwanted kittens. And one
litter can have an exponential impact on the community: one unspayed
female cat, her mate and their offspring can produce a total of
420,000 homeless cats in just seven years.* Similarly, the
cumulative offspring of one female and one male dog can number well
into the tens of thousands during the same time period.
The solution to the tragedy of companion animal overpopulation
starts at home with each animal guardian. Please help the Michigan
Humane Society get to the root of the problem by educating others
about the
importance of having pets spayed or neutered.
Sterilization, or spaying for females and neutering for males, not
only prevents animals from being able to reproduce, but also helps
dogs and cats live longer and healthier lives.
