Michigan Animal Advocates—Oppose Constitutional Right to Hunt Resolution

The Issue
A frivolous resolution, H.J.R. J., has been introduced in the Michigan House of Representatives that proposes a constitutional amendment to the state constitution to recognize a right to hunt. The citizens of Michigan already have the right to hunt so this resolution is needless and redundant. If passed, the question of a constitutional right to hunt will be on the 2006 ballot, the same ballot that voters will be asked whether or not Michigan should allow dove hunting. H.J.R. J could confuse voters at the 2006 ballot and be detrimental to the dove initiative that Michigan residents have worked so hard on to get placed on the ballot. You can help defeat H.J.R. J.

What You Can Do
Please call and email your state representative, Dianne Byrum, today and urge your representative to oppose this completely unnecessary resolution that does nothing. Let Representative Byrum know it is irresponsible of the state legislature to support pointless resolutions.
