SANILAC COUNTY ANIMAL CONTROL SHELTER

The Sanilac County Animal Control Shelter in Sandusky is very very full of wonderful adoptable dogs and cats.  If you know someone who is looking for a great dog or cat to add to their family, please send Sanilac’s information.  Their dogs and cats are listed on our website.  Sanilac County Animal Control’s website is www.sanilacpets.com.

NEW LEGISLATION

Michigan State Representative Alexander Lipsey is the sponsor of a bill that would provide alternatives for students who do not want to dissect animals.  HB 4254 was submitted to the Michigan House of Representatives in February 2005. Many Michigan schools require students to dissect animals, including frogs, pigs, cats and many others.  Sometimes, the animal is alive when dissected.  Considering the availability of computer modeling there is no reason to dissect animals in Michigan Schools.  To read the legislation and write your legislators visit the Jethro's Place Legislation Page.

HUNTERS GONE MAD

Two news stories caught our attention this week.  The hunting lobby is very successful at getting what it wants.  Money appears to be no object and legislators seem to love the cash tossed their way by lobbyists.  We MUST get serious about opposing the hunting lobby or outrageous, inhumane and cruel practices will increase.

RAINBOW BRIDGE MEMORIALS

To honor a beloved pet that is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge, we’ve created the Rainbow Bridge Memorial ProgramWe’ll create a webpage devoted to the memory of a Rainbow Bridge Pet, complete with pictures and special stories.  To find out more about this program visit:  Rainbow Bridge Memorial Webpage Program.
