Dear Great American Meatout Supporter:

On Sunday, March 20, Veggies in Motion will host the 2005 Great American Meatout—an exciting, eye-opening day of vegan food sampling, cooking demos, lectures, literature and more, encouraging the public to explore a wholesome, nonviolent, plant-based diet.

Like last year’s event, the 2005 Meatout will take place at the Gerry Kulick Community Center in Ferndale. And like last year, the event will be organized by volunteers—people who believe this type of offering is important and want to help further its message. The more help we get, the more we can do.

The first planning meeting for the 2005 Meatout takes place on Tuesday, January 18, 7 p.m. at the Kulick Center (1201 Livernois, s. of 9 Mile). Please come hear about what’s planned, and how you might help to make this Meatout the best one yet. You could, for example:

· Take on a task. Offer to distribute fliers; make phone calls; input data; arrange a parking shuttle; or work the day of the event setting up tables, directing traffic, handing out samples or cleaning up (cleaning up, cleaning up...), to name just a few!· Join a committee. The Meatout needs volunteers to help with inviting sponsors; contacting restaurants; securing food samples; scheduling programs; planning logistics; gathering literature; alerting media; database management...and more!

· Head up a committee. Your commitment would include at least two monthly meetings January-March. Jump in and make a difference!

. Make a donation. If you’re short on time but want to help ensure a successful event, please consider making a donation of cash or goods. We’ll talk about the level and type of recognition that’s right for you. Call Jerry Schneble at (313)541-0162.

We need your help to make the Meatout everything it can be: a fun time, an educational experience, and a progressive metro-Detroit event that might just help change the world.

Yours in peace and health,

Jim Corcoran

President, Veggies in Motion
