2004 State of the Animals

The 2004 State of the Animals event is an annual fundraiser. The ultimate goal of this event is to raise program support for the following areas: Humane Education, Operation Fix-It Low-Income Spay/Neuter Assistance, Emergency Pet Food Bank, Shelter Animal Veterinary Services and Pet Visitation. The event is used to introduce new and existing friends and donors of the organization to KHS program accomplishments, the Board of Directors and staff.
The event is slated for Thursday, October 21, 2004 from 6:00-8:30 pm at the Rose Street Market in downtown Kalamazoo. Just Good Food will cater the event, providing hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and soft drinks. Those individuals wishing to support our annual event can purchase a ticket at a cost of $25. The keynote speaker for the evening will be Susan Chernak McElroy, author of the New York Times Best seller, "Animals As Teachers and Healers." Her newest book, entitled "All My Relations" will be published and available in October at our event. Susan will be sharing a wonderful collection of heart-warming stories emphasizing how the relationships we have with animals is critical to our lives and well being. Many of the programs offered at the Kalamazoo Humane Society will be highlighted during the course of the evening. Our guests will also have the opportunity to meet our keynote speaker and the KHS Board of Directors. In addition a silent auction will be held during the evening.
The Kalamazoo Humane Society recently celebrated its 107th birthday on April 14, 2004 and has worked diligently over the past century to establish itself as the foremost leader in the field of animal welfare and protection in southwest Michigan. The reputation of the Kalamazoo Humane Society has been built through the years by the tireless efforts of our founding fathers. Their vision paved the way for the future, to which we are now the faithful stewards. With your generous support, the Kalamazoo Humane Society will continue to carry on the crusade for animal advocacy for another hundred years.
