Happy News!
Ebony found her forever home! Ebony is a 12 year old lab mix whose guardian entered a nursing home. Ebony was taken to Sanilac County Animal Control Shelter. Most animal control shelters would never attempt to find a home for a dog like Ebony, but Sanilac is different, they had faith that there was a family for Ebony and they were right. The picture says it all, Ebony is finally happy.

Thank You Lisa Lisa

DRQ's Lisa Lisa found a great forever home for Chelsa from Arenac Animal Control Shelter. Chelsa is 8 years old and she was abandoned for weeks before Catherine from Arenac Animal Control found her. A wonderful family from Sterling Heights heard about Chelsa on DRQ and now she's in a great forever home.

Michigan Legislation to Stop Shelters from Selling Pets to Research

The Michigan State Legislature is adjourning until after the November elections. The legislation to stop shelters from selling to research will NOT be sent to committee before the adjournment.

Don't forget to ask your candidate for Michigan State House of Representatives their position on this important issue. It's possible that the new legislature will be taking up this legislation.

Check your insurance policy! If you have Farm Bureau Insurance, did you know that Michigan Farm Bureau is opposing our efforts? Michigan Farm Bureau is on the record (and on the web). They want our pets to be sold to research. If you have Farm Bureau Insurance, please consider canceling and letting them know that you do not want pets sold to research!

Beginning September 29th, our website will list candidates positions on this legislation and other important issues affecting animals.

Did you know?
That 300,000 dogs and cats will be killed in Michigan animal shelters in 2004?

That only about 10% of the cats that enter shelters are adopted to new homes?

That at least 25% of the animals in shelters are purebred?

So become part of the solution! Spay or neuter all of your dogs and cats. Adopt your next pet from a rescue or shelter.
