Notes: UPDATE 9-10-04 PETIE WILL BE EUTHANIZED ON SEPT. 17TH. WE NEED A FOSTER HOME FOR PETIE ASAP! Please click here to fill out an adoption application for Petie!

In March of this year, we thought we found Petie the perfect home. Petie was found as a stray in Detroit by two women 1-1/2 yrs. ago, he was an owner-assisted placement. The adopter passed our screening process, and was so passionate about the breed, had prior experience, we were thrilled for Petie.

Petie is currently in a kennel. We MUST find a foster home for Petie, he can only be in the kennel for a week, he does not do well in a kennel setting. We need a foster home for Petie! ASAP! He is dog aggressive (always has been), but good with cats, AWESOME with people! Even if there is someone willing to temp foster him for one week, and lavish him with affection, that will be wonderful for Petie.

Vet visit yesterday 9-9-04 went very well. Petie was emaciated and infested with fleas! This morning, the fleas were all gone thanks to CapStar and Advantage. Petie tested negative for worms (a miracle). Vet said that all the bumps and scabs and red blotches all over Petie's body were from flea allergy dermatitis (you can't see them in the photos, but trust me, he was COVERED in scabs, open sores and itchy spots!). Petie was in no way fought, just had a TON of scabs from the fleas! The antibiotic shot administered yesterday at the vet's has cleared up the redness of his skin, he looks a lot better already! He was of course, awesome with the vet and vet techs. Let them stick a thermometer up his butt, pull out fecal, draw blood and everything. He was his wonderful, affectionate self! Everyone complimented what a sweetheart he was of course! We really, really need a foster home for Petie ASAP! He is crate-trained and is wonderful with all people. Does NOT get along with other dogs. Will do best as the only dog in the house. Petie will need to be on a crate-and-rotate schedule if someone who has another dog is willing to foster him. Petie did great with the 3 cats at this last family's house. He even did good with their turtle :) Please, please, please!
