NATIONAL PRIMATE LIBERATION WEEK OCTOBER 2ND - 10TH

OVER 160 RESEARCH FACILITY REPORTS AVAILABLE AT WWW.SAENONLINE.ORG

Fellow Activists,

National Primate Liberation Week (NPLW) 2004 is scheduled for October 2 – 10.  Your participation in this national event is absolutely crucial.  NPLW is the only annual event which specifically focuses on the suffering and deaths of the 96,000 primates who are victimized in U.S. laboratories every year.

The 96,000 lives are in our hands.  263 primates (rhesus monkeys, baboons, squirrel monkeys, chimpanzees lemurs, marmosets, etc) are victimized in experimentation every day in the U.S.

NPLW 2003 was very successful with participating organizations in 13 states across the U.S.  We need to make NPLW 2004 even LARGER!

It is up to us to fight for the freedom of our closes relatives.  No one else will do it for us.  If there is a primate laboratory in your area it is up to you to take the fight to their doorstep.  If you are uncertain about the location of primate laboratories in the U.S. we have posted the annual reports of over 160 primate labs on our website at: http://www.all-creatures.org/saen/res-fr.html  This list is not all inclusive, but it should cover the majority of non-federal laboratories in the U.S. that experiment on primates.

What can you do to help?  How can you participate in NPLW 2004?

1.      Organize a media event (protest, news conference, vigil, etc.) at research facilities in your area.

As a part of media events in your area please use the "general access letter" posted on our website to request           access to the labs in your area.

2.      Organize literature tabling in your area to publicize the plight of primates in laboratories. (you can use fact sheets from the SAEN website at http://www.all-creatures.org/saen/fact.html

3.      Write a Letter to the Editor for your local newspaper.

We have assembled many materials for your use in this event.  The SAEN website www.saenonline.org  contains fact sheets, reports, photos and many other useful tools that can support your NPLW events.

Please contact our media coordinator, Cres Vellucci, at civillib@cwnet.com for promotion of your event with the media (i.e. for press releases).  It is vitally important that all NPLW events be publicized for maximum effectiveness.  The general public must be informed about these events; obtaining maximum media coverage is a vital part of this effort.

You can inform us of your participation either by responding to this email, by using the participation form at: http://www.all-creatures.org/saen/event-nplw-signon.html,  or by calling 513-575-5517.

WHERE WILL YOU BE OCTOBER 2ND – 10TH?

CAN WE DEPEND ON YOU TO FIGHT FOR THE 96,000 PRIMATES WHO ARE SUFFERING IN LABORATORIES RIGHT NOW?
