Hi, My name is Sarah and I am currently working as an intern for Ginny
Mikita. She told me I should contact you and perhaps you could help me out.
I found a dog in December who was about 6 months old. Within a week I found
her a home and she lived with this family for two months. In February I took
the dog back because the daughter was allergic to her. I have placed signs
up, ran ads, talked with local shelters, etc, and have yet to find her a
home. I care for her a lot, but I do not want a third dog. For one, I cannot
afford a third dog.
The dog's name is Eve and she is about a year and three months according to
the vet's estimation. She has not been fixed yet, this is something I
constantly have on my mind but have not been able to afford to do. I called
C-Snip but have yet to receive a call back. Eve is part lab. She is all
black with brown eyes. She is very petite. She probably weighs about 35
lbs. She has the energy of about three puppies. She needs to live in a home
where she will receive exercise and attention otherwise she will drive her
owner's nuts. She is very energetic/hyper the very first thing in the morning
and when my husband and I return home. She has experience being with other
dogs, (I have two large breed dogs), and children and is great with both.
She is a wonderful dog and if I could afford her, and if having three dogs
didn't seem so overbearing within my home, I would keep her. I am sort of at
my "witt's end" with the problem and was considering taking Eve to the Humane
Society this weekend. I have a relative that started volunteering there and
she told me they will not euthanize Eve. She said they will keep a dog until
it is adopted. When I told this to Ginny today, though, she said this is not
the case and suggested I ask you for help or advice before I take her to the
humane society.
Do you have any advice for me? I am weeks away from a ten day camping
vacation in which I intended to take my dogs. I was hoping to have a home for
Eve by now because we do not have the space within our vehicle to take three
dogs. Plus, my dogs are older and a little less energetic than she is. She
tends to make having three dogs a handful when having two was a piece of
cake. I honestly did not think I would have her five months later when I took
her back into my home in February.
Any help would be wonderful!
