Cardigan Welsh Corgwn
Cowboy on the mountainside where Animal Planet's "Breed All About It"show featuring Cardigans was filmed. The castle in the distance is known as Carreg Cennan.
In March of 2005, I happened to share some photos of Cowboy - from the Quick x Beautiful litter with Mair and Thomas Jones-Rees (Gwenlais). Cowboy is a great-grandson of Mair's AM CH Gwenlais Glynis Glyfar (imported to the US) and Mair liked him well enough to extend an invitation to bring him along when she graciously offered us a place to stay during our trip.
So, in October of 2005, we had the great pleasure of attending the 80th Anniversary show of the WCC, which is the first Welsh Corgi Club founded in Wales for both cardigans and pembrokes. As a result, Cowboy was the first US born cardigan to travel round trip to Wales and back to the US following the recent changes in UK quarantine rules.
Accomplishing this feat was an adventure in itself, but except for a few minor problems, it was not as difficult as it sounds. I will eventually post on this website the information on how it was done so others interested in traveling to the UK shows with their dogs can avoid some of the pitfalls we encountered.
The trip was a wonderful experience which we hope to repeat again in the future. The Welsh countryside is like a picture postcard at every turn. I filled the memory card of my camera several times! We remain grateful to Mair's husband Thomas, who was the best possible guide, sharing an endless number of fascinating stories as he drove us all over to see the most interesting places in this beautiful country. The images on these pages are just a few of my favorite photos from the trip.
