How Color and Markings Affect Perception - Pt 1

Examples of the same head in different coat colors. Eye color has only been changed in the merles (eyes partially blue)..

Note how color and markings can affect perception of facial features such as eye size, shape and placement, ear size and shape and even the width of head and cheeks.

Some markings may be percieved as less attractive or might even be considered faulty, so may not be seen as often in the show ring. Here is the same head again with different amounts of white, showing some acceptable variations.

This example is an adult cardigan head previously assessed as 'ideal' by the CCI group (background and markings have been changed for anonymity).
