Many cardigans are currently being shown and titled when they are 6-12 mos old, well before they are mature. Because of the inherant dwarfism of the breed, a cardigan's front may change noticeably as it matures. The added variation of white markings can additionally change or obscure the appearance.
Below are examples of an immature front (approx 10-12 months old) with different amounts of white.

Two additional immature fronts. Front on the left is approximately 8 wks old. On the right is approximately 4-5 mos.

Note how markings affect perception of width and depth of chest, forearm wrap, turnout of feet, length of pasterns and symmetry.

All of the dogs used as the basis for these examples have been previously assessed as good by CCI members. (Background coat color and markings have been changed for anonymity since I do not own these dogs).
