Cody a.k.a. "Booey"
Waiting at Heaven's Gate - Author Unknown
I got to the gates of Heaven yesterday,
After we said good-bye.
I began to miss you terribly,
Because I heard you cry.
Suddenly there was an Angel and she asked me
to enter Heaven's gate.
I asked her if I could stay outside
for someone who'd be late.
I wouldn't make much noise you see,
I wouldn't bark or howl.
I'll only wait here patiently
and play with my tennis ball.
The Angel said I could stay right here
and wait for you to come.
Because Heaven just wouldn't be Heaven
if I went in alone.

Today is ^Cody's^ 1st year wing day.
This time has gone quickly, but at the same time it seems like forever. I still cry when I think of my furbaby and miss
him terribly. I can now think of him at times and smile remembering some of the good times that we shared. I guess you could
say that I am still healing. I know that he is waiting patiently for me at the Bridge and I can not wait to see him again
when the time is right. So here is to you my angel ^Cody^, until we meet again...
Cody's Story
The heart stone I made

Baby Cody (6 months)

Just laying around
God, he hated this!
I wanted to do something special, kind of as a memorial to my special friend. So I planted a flower garden
in memory of my beloved Cody. In the center is a rose bush that will bloom with beautiful flowers called
Paradise. I found it very fitting.
The Paradise Rose
My first rose bloomed on 6/29/03. A little over a month since my baby earned his wings. I had to cut the
very first one and I am in the process of preserving it so that I will always have the first rose exactly as
it appeared when I first cut it. I took this picture before I started the preservation. It is in the 'paws' of
a Ty Beanie Baby collie (even though it really looks nothing like a collie!)
The rose bush in bloom
This is ^Cody's^ second garden that I planted. His rose bush made it through the winter and is now in bloom once again.
Here are a few links that I found to be very helpful during this time:
Whisper in the Heart - Memorial pendants and jewelry for coping with pet loss
I can not recommend this site highly enough! It is run by a very kind and compassionate woman named Lin
Loriaux (Whisper's Mom). You can read about her beloved pet Whisper and how she came to offer this great service to people who
would like beautiful ways to remember their pets. I personally have ordered a locket from her and can vouch
for the great service she provides.
These pictures don't do these beauties justice. The chain I have on the locket (on the left) has the words
'I LOVE YOU' stamped on it. The heart bottle on the right is where I keep tufts of Cody's hair. I really feel
like I keep Cody close to my heart when I wear these (which is all the time):
Pet Bereavement
This is a message board on iVillage that is hosted by Lin (Whisper's Mom) amongst others who really understand
what grieving a beloved pet is all about.
Tough Decisions
This is a message board on iVillage that I just became a co-leader of. As the name implies, it is a board dealing with
the tough decisions pet owners face from spaying/neutering to euthanasia. Lin (Whisper's Mom) is the one who recommended me
and told me about this position. I really feel that this is what ^Cody^ led me to do. I hope to do him proud. Come visit!
Pet Loss Support
This is a terrific site that offers memorial pages that you can pay tribute to your pet and to other's
pets that have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. There is also a message board where you can post and
respond to messages to help you through your grief.
