Dustin Hoffman

Just when I was starting to think the pint-sized actor may have a brain to match, which would make it three-quarters of a pint heavier than your average Hollywood actor, he had to go open his mouth and prove to us that he did indeed choose the right career path. A fine actor, Hoffman is nonetheless, like his buddies, spending his off hours 'method acting' the "Rainman" role.

"Is Bush bad?"

"Yeah."

"Is war bad?"

"Yeah."

Brilliance. Sheer brilliance! Now get back on the set before you hurt yourself out here.

Quote: "For me as an American, the most painful aspect of this is that I believe this administration has taken the events of 9/11 and manipulated the grief in this country and I think that's reprehensible."

Anti quote: An actor who makes a handsome living by doing his job, which is manipulating emotions, should know what he's talking about.

Pluses: Hearing anyone from the "fall of Rome" Hollywood culture, where it's easier to spot DB Cooper square dancing with the Loch Ness Monster than it is to find a shred of morality, say the word "reprehensible," provides us with a much needed, stress relieving laugh. Thanks Dustin.

Minuses: "Tootsie" gave me nightmares. To this day I wet myself when I'm near a drag queen, which fortunately, is rare. Also, "Billy Bathgate". What the hell was that?

Rating: Talks politics, but it's usually below the scope of our lens. "S" = Medium

Fun fact: Due to Hoffman's fascination with Diana Ross, once had pal Ted Danson help him put on black face makeup so he could try and get a role as the Mayor of Munchkin City in "The Wiz."
