A Significantly Beneficial Starting Point

This document is a small summation of 60 years experience in the fields of art, antiques, collectibles and collecting. It is intended to give people newly interested in the field a significantly beneficial starting point. (ie, it is good to know some of this stuff before you start into it.)

Many of the most significant fields/categories of art, antiques and collectibles, including the greatest majority of the world’s great collectors and collections, are the province/preoccupation of a portion of one ethnic group. This is a statement of fact, not an opinion. A significant proportion of this group is involved because it is ingrained in their heritage/genes. Thank heaven, because the rest of the population of the world has totally no interest and that, too, is a statement of fact, measured by whatever comparison anyone wants to make.

Why should anyone care? Because involvement in the fields of art, antiques, collectibles and collecting provides more deep satisfaction in being alive than any other human activity except creating and raising worthwhile offspring.

The wonderful thing about it is that ANYONE CAN PARTICIPATE in this activity; there are NO entry requirements. There are jillions of ways of participating.
