I met Marie in College at DePaul University on the ROTC/Varsity Rifle Range where we were both on the varsity team (I was also on the ROTC Team). We married shortly after I had received orders to report to Germany (for three years). This was during Marie's Christmas break from school and my vacation from Airborne School in the Army at Ft. Benning. Marie graduated in January (in 3 1/2 years) and we moved to Germany the next March. After 33 months in Germany, Marie was diagnosed with Leukemia and we transferred back to Chicago. Marie died about 7 months later on July 17, 1966.

This is a stereoscopic picture. It was taken on 120 slide film. The slides were digitized using a camcorder viewing the slides on a light table, and the camcorder was piped into a PowerPC computer with an AV card. These images were then converted to 256 color GIF files.
The stereoscopic pair have the left image on your right, and the right image on your left. Make sure your browser has the pairs side by side. You may need to widen your browser window first. To view, cross your eyes so that you see three of the images, then focus in on the center of the three images. It should come out in three dimensions!

I met Sue on a bicycle trip that went half way around Lake
Michigan. This trip was about 100 miles per day and she had no
experience on such extended trips. We married 2 years later and
had two children, Rick and Laura. We were divorced after 10
years.
Richard (Rick) was born about nine months after we were
married and that ended our extended bicycle riding. Rick is now
attending the University of Illinois at Urbana, majoring in
Landscape architecture. Visit his Home Page
to to see his interests.
Laura was born two years later. She graduated from Lake Zurich High School in June, 1997
and accepted a 4 year tutition scholarship in classical jazz at the University of Illinois in
Urbana. Visit her Home Page to see her interests and
accomplishments.
