The circle has been broken. We have just received word that Cal died just a couple of hours ago, at around ten this morning. We wonder how did it happen? and why? I cannot answer these questions But God in his infinite wisdom has a reason and a purp ose. Maybe Cal's work on this planet has been completed. He put more living into the years granted to him than many who have lived for decades more. His schedule was always full but he was always ready to add more to it to help others. If he had a fault it would have to be that he spread himself to thin to accomplish everything that was to be done in a day. His principals were high and he was always ready to fight for what he thought was the best decision, sometimes even taking a cause where he was one o f the minority. Cal had goals in life but Fame and Fortune were not included . His goal would have to be found within the family where he tried to be the best husband, father and the greatest Grandfather possible. The family get togethers and camping trip s for all his children testifies to his love of the sanctity of the family. They all have memories to carry them over the rough times that they will encounter now that he has left them.
Not only will his family miss him but his Church also where he worked hard putting together Barbecues and luncheons, always to perfection. Of course he had a good helper at his side. Many a hymn and song fest was enjoyed at Christmas time through hi s efforts.
Cal always had time for either his children or his grandchildren. He listened to their problems and offered advice no matter how busy he was at the time. His discipline to his children was never with authority, but by reasoning, his message was del ivered without antagonizing them, Their education has been an absolute must, no matter the cost of time, money and sacrifice. The results are six fine citizens to take their place in Church and community as outstanding citizens. None of this could happen without a helper at his side. Willene has been a major part of the team for forty years and deserves her share of the credit.
I find it a privilege to have been able to call you Brother in Law and Friend. All I can say is that you have done your job well . You will be missed, but not forgotten.
