The Traditional Art of Felt Making - Flowers
This is an introductory course in the ancient art of felt making. Each student will make a one-of-a-kind flowers through the process of turning raw fibers into a solid fabric. Each strand of fiber has individual barbs. When combined with friction (rubbing) and a warm water/soap solution felt is created. The felting process begins when the water/soap solution is poured onto the fiber. The barbs react to the solution and begin to “puff out”. The “puffing” effect allows the barbs to attach and form a solid fabric. Each student will make a flower following the instructor and then make one on their own. The flowers they make can include leaves. Participants will also be shown how to make a necklace using their flowers. Come join in on the fun!!!!
Class Price - $45 ($30 Instructor fee and $15 material fee)
Class Time - Sunday September 21, 2008 9:00 - 12:00 a.m.
